In The End

Greeting the Darkness

I had woken before the sun had risen. I groaned wiping my eyes and I quietly stood, trying to not to wake up my brother since he took care of me last night when I was a total mess. I brushed my hair out of my face and tip-toed over him to the steps. Once I had reached the steps, I crept up them silently; I reached the top of the steps I heard voices from the room across from mine.
“Who’s that?” I asked myself. I reached for the knob and knocked on the door softly. “Hello?” I whispered, opening the door quietly. I shut the door, watching Andy and Jake playing “Injustice and talking.
“Yeah, I feel really bad for them. I could never go through that again like when Ella was murdered.” I gasped and covered my mouth. I walked behind them hearing Andy answer him.
“I know dude, I know. I feel bad too. I remember Mama Karen from when I’d visit Jen and her. I remember when Abby was a little short kid with a boy’s hair-cut and freckles all over her face. She was adorable. Though, I must say I can’t help but think this was supposed to happen.” That was odd, I don’t remember him at the house. Then again I was sick all the time when I was little. It sucked big time! I watched Jake ‘Hmmed’. I tapped Andy’s shoulder looking down at my redshorts replacing the jeans I wore before and hoodie from yesterday. Thank god they didn’t take it off. I thought. He jumped cursing.
“Shit, Oh hi Abbs.” He answered. “Why are you awake?”
“Couldn’t sleep. Nightmare.” I answered in a childish voice. Jake chuckled and patted his lap.
“Come on. Lay your head on my lap.” He called out watching me and I nodded, walking around the couch and laying my head on Jake’s lap and after an argument with Andy, my feet were on his lap. I laid silently watching Andy get his ass kicked by the Joker, Superman, and Raven; until I got tired of watching and I swiped Andy’s controller. I changed my character to the Joker smirking.
“Be prepared to die, Superman.” I said chuckling
“Bring it Joker.” Jake answered grinning.
I forgot my misery for a while, while I kicked Jake’s ass in Injustice. It was quite fun and I enjoyed it greatly. We played 10 rounds: I won 9 of them and I let him win the last one so he wouldn’t cry and shit like that. I wasn’t good with people crying, let alone myself. That’s why I hated crying. I hadn’t cried in forever and last night sucked. After the 10 rounds, Jake turned off the game and turned on the “Emo”tional music. Andy said goodnight and he left leaving us alone. I could feel hands traveling through my blood red hair, that I colored a week before, and I could feel my eyes close. I sighed feeling the anger and sadness flow out of my body like tiny rivers as Jake played with my hair like my mother used to. I began to like the feeling.
“So why are you really in here?” Jake asked and my eyes flew open. I sat up looking at him to see three ghosts behind him. I recognized them immediately. I groaned mentally. I could never get a break with these dead people.
You should really tell him, Abby. The raven haired male said softly.
Not unless I want to start crying again. And I’ll freak him out. I hissed silently in my mind, I watched as the female next to the raven began to laugh and I frowned.
Hey little bitch? Who cares! Your me! Just tell him or I’ll tell him myself. Alice cried out laughing like a maniac and I shook my head.
Azrael! Please have them leave me alone!
I’m sorry Abigail Nicole. But I can’t you have to deal with them yourself. She answered watching me intestinally
I hate all of you bastards. I answered to see Jake watching me concerned.
“Are you okay?” He asked softly and I nodded sighing.
“Yeah I am.”
‘Okay then. So why are you really in here?” He asked again and I frowned slightly. I sat on his lap, looking at his face and sighed.
“Because I thought you’d be awake and I felt scared.” I whispered hiding my face in his shirt. I felt his hands rub my back softly. Tears began to pour down my face. I let everything go.
“There’s no need to be scared little dude.” Jake answered calmly and I shook my head vigorously.
“Yes there is! They became real!” I practically shouted at him. I quickly hid my face back into his shirt as I felt tears run down my face and I felt his hands run through my hair.
“Shhh. Shh. It’s alright. What became real?” He asked holding me close. I grabbed a fistful of his shirt as I cried. It took me a while to calm down before I could answer him. He waited patiently.
“My visions. I watched my parents die and I didn’t do anything about it!” I wailed out and he held me tight. My emotions were a train wreck. I felt like a toddler who lost their mommy in a super market.
“Your visions?” Jake asked and I nodded. “I’m so sorry. It’ll be okay soon.” He rubbed my back and I kept nodding into his chest. “Darling you’ll be okay. Trust me.” He whispered into my ear.
“Can we go someplace?” I asked in a little voice.
“Sure.” He answered me and I was lifted into the air bridal style. He carried me down the steps and I smiled. Jake carried me outside to his truck and buckled me in. I looked down at my hoodie and fiddled with the sleeves. He drove us around to random places and then we went to my old house.
“Come on. This is it.” I announced as he parked the car between my parent’s mini-van and Sean’s car. Sean was my older step-brother who had a kid. They both hated me. Raven was my niece; she was 6 years younger than me and had an attitude problem. Raven never listened and to be honest I didn’t like her either.
“Hold my hand Jake. Please” I asked him softly. I turned my head to him pleading silently. He nodded and gripped my hand silently not speaking. No words were exchanged between us. Nothing but a hand holding us together. I began to walk to the left door and he followed holding my hand never letting go.
“I’m home mommy and daddy!” I called out softly and smiled sadly. Mum was always talking about going back to the other side. Now she was there fulfilling her duty on the other side. Ugh I sound like a cry-baby thing. Fuck it. No more crying.
We entered the front door and I looked around noticing nothing was moved. Wow. Thought Sean would go through it. Since he is an ass-whole. And he always knows when someone dies first. Yeah. We did not like each other long story short.
Jake held a box in his free hand. “Are you ready?” He asked.
“Yeah. Let’s get this over with.” I answered moving to my mother’s bookcase/alter. Opening it, I pulled a few Native American and spell books. Yes my mother was and could be classified as a witch. But she wasn’t. She just liked feeling as if the fairy tales were real. I was like that to. I don’t really know if I’d say I had a religion. I never really thought of it till now. I was raised Catholic but as I grew up I noticed that they were judge mental bastards who didn’t care about anyone else but themselves.
I placed the books in the box and stood up quickly placing the beautiful ornate dagger in the box along with the snowy owl puppet I had given my mum for Christmas in 7th grade. I looked around and nodded to myself satisfied before walking into the dining room and placing the picture of my parents from several years before in the box.
“Let’s head upstairs dude. I need to get something’s from my room and such.” I answered before racing up the dirty steps. Clive, Remind me to burn this house to the ground. I hissed in my mind to the man who stood at the top step.
Sure Abby. Alice and I will. He answered and I opened the door to my father’s office and pulled the knife from in his desk drawer and opened the filing cabinet. I pulled my documents from it, placed it in a founder then went to my room to see Jake staring in awe.
“Cat got your tongue?” I asked him smirking. He was looking at all of my pictures I had drawing of the band and several others. I enjoyed drawing. It made me forget life for a bit.
“These are fucken amazing Abby!” He yelled happily, looking at the most recent one of Jinxx and Himself looking at the camera while making funny faces. “How did you do these?”
“Umm I wanted to kill someone so I turned on BVB and grabbed paper to write and I ended up drawing these.” I answered pulling several of them off the ways and rolling them up.
“That’s so cool! Need help?” He asked and I nodded smiling softly.
“Thanks Jake. You’re really cool.” I replied continuing as he pulled a few pictures of Ella off my wall. I could see his face harden as he rolled them up.
“Do you want these?” He asked
“No.Do you?”
“No.”
“Chuck’em.” I replied and reached up to the ceiling to pull my first ever canvas of Black Veil Brides that I ever made; It was black with the BVB symbol in gold. The lyrics on the canvas were from Knives and Pens. I remember creating it in school and my teacher supported it since she liked them to. I smiled at the memory and carried my posters to the box. I placed them in and grabbed my old laptop from my desk and pulled on my bandana from on top of my desk over my head and re fixed my think curly hair.
I made my way through the hall way and pulled the canvas of a bear that my grandmother made before she passed away from cancer off the wall and opened my parents room. I’m not sure what I’m feeling right now. It’s a lot to go through when your told your parents are dead and the month before you’re told that you’re about to get kicked out of your house unless you pay the mortgage. So Whopdy Do!
I felt Jake’s hands wrap around my waist and he kissed my cheek. “You can do this.” He said and I nodded.
“Thank you Jake.” I said smiling and I shut the door reaching for the light switch. I flicked it on and made my way over to her dresser to remove the piece of jewelry she had gotten me for my 16th birthday in a week. I pulled out the beautiful old fashioned choker with a traditional face on it and slipped it around my neck.
I pulled away from the jewelry box and went over to my father’s dresser and opened it up. Jake watched me horrified as I dug through the shirts and underwear to pull the pistol from the drawer. He backed up away from me and I chuckled placing the gun on the bed and reaching for its case.
“You scared?” I asked evilly, raising up the gun and putting the clip in. I heard it click in place so I took the safety off and cocked it back. I pointed it at him grinning.
“Boom.”
