The girl across the hall

Just couldn't wait for the second date

Andy finishes his cigarette right as Arielle knocks on his door. He crushes it in the ashtray beside him, getting up from the couch to open the door. He smiles as his eyes take in her relaxed appearance, something he would have never expected to see her in.
"Hey."
"Hey Andy." She grins up at him while following the singer into his large apartment. The tv is centered across from a couch which has a crumpled blanket and a pack of opened cigarettes upon it. Andy picks up an ashtray from the coffee table, "Sorry, I'm just going to dump this out. The movies have already started."
Andy dumps the ashtray out in the trash can, grabbing some popcorn before coming back to the sofa. She feels his arm around her soon as the climax of the movie is about to start. Andy pulls out a cigarette, "do you mind if I smoke?"
Arielle shrugs, at this point she is too tired to think but still wants to finish the movies with Andy. He lights up the cigarette, taking a drag while looking at the girl curled up next to him with a small smile playing at his lips. This is the most intimate thing he has done in months- it's sad that the lead singer in a rock and roll band has not done anything more intimate with a girl than watch a movie. He's not counting the countless nights of sex with random women of course, those meant nothing. She meets his gaze as he crushes the cigarette in the ashtray. He notices her gaze land on his lips for a few moments, then back to his eyes like it never happened. A blush heats his cheeks as he turns away, not wanting to ruin the night by moving too fast. She leans her head against his shoulder, watching the credits to another movie speed by at an altered rate. "I think I should go back to my apartment. You know, Delaney was giving me so much shit about actually having fun on the date tonight." She chuckles, looking up at Andy who smiles down at her.
"I'm not surprised." He shrugs, "but can you stay longer? It's lonely living alone."
"Maybe just one more movie." Arielle mumbles, a giggle escaping her lips as the title appears on the screen. Andy cuddles her closer, her head still on his shoulder until she unknowingly lays her head in his lap. Soon, her breathing becomes even and Arielle falls into a deep sleep. Andy chuckles as he looks down at the beautiful girl resting on his lap, 'she is so peaceful when asleep.'
After a few minutes of watching the writer sleep, he knows he has to return her home. Andy lifts her into his arms, her arm wrapping around his neck in her sleep, she curls into his chest as he approaches the door to his apartment, somehow managing to open it without waking the sleeping girl in his arms. Andy knocks on the door of apartment 5A to be greeted by the unhappy face of Delaney.
"You." She hisses, squinting her eyes into a glare.
Andy sighs, "we were watching movies and she fell asleep so I thought it would be the nice thing to do and bring her home."
"Well I don't want you in our apartment." Delaney snarks, "She's going to come to her senses and realize how awful you are."
"You realize I have a girl in my arms and humans aren't exactly as light as a feather so, I would like to put her down so that she can sleep more comfortably." Andy moves past the girl, walking into what he assumes is Arielle's bedroom. He places the girl on her queen bed, pulling the covers up under her chin. His lips press to her forehead softly, sending tingles throughout the sleeping writer's body. She mumbles as Andy is about to leave, "stay."
He turns back to the bed, eyebrows raised and a contemplative look on his face. She opens one eye halfway and mumbles, "it's fine. Stay."
He looks at the door, then the woman before him. He wants to stay but he probably shouldn't.
"Arielle, I have to be somewhere early in the morning so I'm going to go. Goodnight." He places his lips on her forehead again as a way to tell her goodnight. She sighs in her sleep, unknowingly wrapping her arms around Andy's waist, attempting to pull him closer. "Stay..."
Arielle's arms get unwrapped from Andy's waist, allowing him to stand up and quietly leave. She falls back into a deep sleep, not remembering about the attempts at cuddling in the morning.
