I Am Here.

I dove into the outdoor pool, laughing with my sisters, splashing each other. We were having so much fun. It was a blissful, warm, summer day. I then heard a shriek from behind me. My little sister Rachel had the look of sheer terror as blood came spilling out of the pool filter, turning the water crimson red. My sisters evacuated the pool, but I stood still, too scared to budge. Suddenly, I was pulled under water. I kicked myself free from the grasp. I emerged from the pool full with blood to see that it wasn’t a blissful summer day anymore. I was in a cave, deep underground with these creatures crawling around. They were pasty white with sharp teeth, blind eyes, and sharp nails. They circled the pool waiting for me to get out. I waded in the water, not knowing what to do, shaking at the possibility that I was going to die in this cave. My thoughts of terror were interrupted by a hand pulling me back down under the blood. I opened my eyes under the blood and saw Andy. He was just staring at me, just staring. Suddenly, his eyes went white and he turned into one of those creatures. He let out a screech and I couldn’t help myself from screaming. I breathed in the blood, drowning in it. Andy lurched forward and bit my leg with his sharp teeth, sending immense pain throughout my whole body. I screamed once again letting more blood flow into my lungs. I started hallucinating. I thought I saw CC standing over me. No, no he wasn’t. I was just dying. Andy grabbed my shoulders and started screaming at me.
“Emily! Emily, stop this! Wake up!! WAKE UP!!”
I awoke screaming, the screaming turned to coughing, having thought I was drowning. I looked up and there stood CC, hands resting on my shoulders, the look of relief in his eyes.
“Thank god! I thought I lost you too.” CC sighed. I then remembered the crash. The cave wasn’t real. I was just having a horrible nightmare. Wait…
“CC,” I asked slowly, “what do you mean by ‘lost you too’?” I looked around the rest of the hospital room, making eye contact with Jake and Jinxx, the look of sorrow in their eyes.
“Umm… Em,… Andy and Ashley… they’re in pretty bad shape… it would take a miracle…” CC trailed, tears falling from his eyes.
Oh god. Is it really that bad?
“What CC is trying to say is,” Jake started, placing a reassuring hand on CCs back, “Andy and Ashley have been in surgery for the past couple of hours. They each lost a lot of blood. It would take a miracle for them to survive.”
So, they could possibly die….it’s all my fault.
“It’s not your fault. You did all you could have done.” Jinxx added, as if reading my mind. “You were in surgery for an hour or so. They stapled your leg back to gather and stitched your arm up real nice. You also had some broken ribs and a broken arm, but you’re ok now.”
“The doctors said that there was a possibility that you went into a coma,” CC interrupted, “You started screaming so I thought I would try to wake you up from the possible coma. I’m just so glad that you’re ok.” CC gave me a gentle hug, wiping the tears from his face.
I would have cried but I had ran out of tears. I shed them all at the accident scene.

We waited around in silence waiting for the doctors to give us an update on Andy and/or Ashley. Finally, a surgeon came in.
“I don’t know how, but your friend Ashley is stable and well. He is resting in the surgery ward. You aren’t allowed back there for health safety reasons, but I knew you would want to know that he will survive.” He said calmly with a smile on his face.
We were all so relieved that we almost cheered.
“Do you know the whereabouts of our other friend Andy by and chance?” Jake kindly questioned Ashley’s surgeon.
“I didn’t operate on him, but I will check for you.” He answered.
“Thank you very much.” Jake acknowledged.
“This is killing me.” I chimed in after a few more minutes of silence. I got glances of sympathy and understanding, knowing that they felt the same way.

After another excruciating hour, Andy’s surgeon stepped into the room.
“This must be a day filled of miracles for you all because your friend Andy is fine and stable.”
At this, we all screamed with joy, tears of relief running down our faces.
“You can’t see Andy quite yet, but I’ll have some nurses come in and help you in a wheelchair and wheel you down to the room Ashley is now in.” the surgeon directed at me as he left the room.
I was so ready to get out of this bed and see Ashley. I wanted to see for myself that he was alright. The nurses came in, just like the surgeon promised, and helped me into a wheelchair, pulling out all the needles sticking in my arm.
“Thanks, I got this from here.” CC stopped the nurse as she began wheeling me towards the door.
CC took control of my chair and wheeled me into the hall. I looked up at him and I knew what was going to happen. Jinxx and Jake knew too and they lined up on either sides of my chair.
“ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, GO!” CC screamed.
And we were off, racing down the hallway, Ashley’s room as the finish line. CC and I pulled ahead, ripping and drifting around corners. We almost ran over a nurse, who had to dodge to save herself.
“Sorry!” I yelled back at her.
I started laughing and smiling like an idiot. CC noticed and started laughing too. We were so relieved and happy that everyone was going to be ok that we couldn’t control ourselves. I felt infinite, blissful, relieved. Right then, I knew, I was going to be friends with these guys forever.

Oh and the inspiration for the creatures goes to the movie The Descent. I really love this movie. Its really creepy and bloody so be warned if you decide to watch it.
