So Hear My Voice
Late night bite
When I reawaken it is pitch black out and Lexi is curled up in a ball against my side. It's hard to believe someone that looks so innocent could be so seductive. My throat aches reminding me to feed. Since vampires have come out in society we can just buy blood from the blood banks. I slip away from quietly. I quickly find a t-shirt and my batman pajama pants. I slip on my converse and I am out the door. I get outside and about to go around the corner when I literally run into Ash.
"Man, watch where you're going." He complains. I just look at him. The bags under his eyes are slightly raised. He's hungry.
"Sorry, I'm heading to the blood bank what are you doing out here?" I ask lighting a cigarette.
"Nothing, just thinking. Can I go with you?" He avoids my gaze and pops a piece of spearmint gum in his mouth.
"Sure." I say and we continue on our way through the dark street. When we get to the blood bank we're the only vampires there. Which is good. A young African American man is behind the desk. I walk up and tap the glass. He looks up alarmed.
"Good evening, Sirs. What can I get for you?" He pulls out a sheet of paper.
"Two bags of AB Positive." He marks it off the sheet and takes my credit card. Moments later he returns with my card and the blood bags. I hand a bag to Ash and we leave.
I stick a straw into the bag and sip softly.
"Hey, can I talk to you a minute?" Ash asks as we enter the hotel lobby. I pause and sit before nodding.
"What's it like to wake up next to Lexi?" He asks. Where was this coming from.
"It's the best thing in the world. We never had sex but I swear when we do it will be explosive. She's like an angel sent to save my soul." I answer honestly. Ash bro-hugs me before heading to his room. I make my way back to my bed. In her sleep
Lexi had somehow moved onto her knees, limbs tucked under her and her butt on her heels. At that second she snores adorably. I get on the bed with the least movements possible. Finally, I am next to her. In her unconscious state she rolls onto her side. One arm goes across my chest and a leg wraps itself over both of my legs. I kiss her head and let sleep claim me.
