You Saved Me

Ella's POV: After everything calms down some, Juliet introduces me to everyone, and then we all settle in for a nice, relaxing evening. John put on a rap beat after CC said he could rap freestyle, and no one believed him.
"I'm recording this," Ashley says, grabbing the video camera he had brought in with them, and turning it on.
"I can do it right now, dude. You ready?" CC asked, leaning back on the sofa.
"Yeah, go ahead," John says, leaning back in his chair and folding his hands across his stomach.
"Gangster beat, I'll tear your hat and then throw 'em at your feet. I'll punch you in the face and then spray it with mace. I'll shoot you in the head, seeing the color red, like blood shed. Be like, bitch whadup, I'm half dead. Brain dead if I'm drinkin' and smokin' so much.That's what I do, yo, blonde sluts in handcuffs. Straight up in the butt, I don't know what I'm sayin'. Don't even rap, because this shit is fuckin' crap. 'Cause, I play the drums, I should be in that room. Not gettin' married, fuck a bride and the groom. I'm all against that shit, what is up? Here we go, with Ashley with some alcohol in our cup. Let's party later on this evening, yeah right! We doin' all awesome shit, and keep it tight. Can't even rhyme for one fuckin' minute. Dude, what is goin' on?" he raps, then pauses and says, "I-I lost it. I don't know what I'm doing."
"OHHH!" Ashley calls out.
"Ohh! Yeah!" CC says with him, making us all laugh.
"That wasn't too bad, actually, CC," Katie says, through her fits of laughter.
"Nah, that was bad," he says.
"No it wasn't bad at all. It was awesome, it just-"
"Yeah, it just," CC says, inturupting her, "Admit it, that was bad."
"No, it just needs a little work and I could see that playing on the radio, if you'd let me finish," she says.
I then notice a chill run up Katie's spine, and Ashley grabs his leather jacket, slipping it over her shoulders. She looks back at him with a shy smile, but slips her arms through the sleeves, then kisses his cheek.
Who would have thought Ashley Purdy would fall so hard for this beautifully broken young woman. I actually can't help but smile at them together, as he gently kisses her temple in return, and wraps his arms around her. One settles across her lap, while his hand rests easily on her hip, and the other snakes around her shoulders, his hand resting on her breast bone.
She then looks at him with a cute smile, not nearly as shy this time, and leans her head on his shoulder, gently closing her eyes and sighing contently. She then slips her hands around his to hold them, and snuggles in further.
"Hey, Ash, aren't you forgetting something?" Andy calls out from across the room, playing with his necklace.
"What? Oh, yeah! Thanks, man," Ashley says, removing the hand on her hip, and fishing in the inner pocket of his jacket. He pulls out a jewelry box, and Katie lifts her head to see what he's doing.
He passes her the box and says, "This is just a little something I picked up today. Thought you would like it. Think of it as an early Christmas gift."
She looks at him, then back to the box, and opens it. I watch as her eyes grow large and she gasps in awe at whatever it is.
"Ashley...It's beautiful," she says, pulling a silver necklace out of the box.
"You're always saying I'm your angel, and that you're not an outcast, but a fallen angel," he whispers to her, and on closer inspection, I see a silver pendent on the small chain, but can't quite tell what it is yet.
He takes it from her, while she holds up her hair, and slips it around her neck. Now, I can see it's a fallen angel wing. He then pulls his from under his shirt, and I see it's a matching angel wing, only instead of the pointed, boney look, it's designed to look like a feathery wing.
Katie blushes and smiles at the sight of it, and I finally understand what Jake had said about these two. They really are polar-opposites, yet they attract each other so well. One really is a fallen while the others an angel. Yin and Yang. Day and Night.
I remember Jake's exact words when he told me about them. "When you look at them, they clearly have a love that rivals all others, but our own. They're always fighting, yet somehow I think that brings them closer together."
It's cute as can be to finally see what he meant all that time ago, and I can see how Jake would compair them to us. We're always bickering, like they do, and no matter how bad the arguement is, we always find a way back to each other.
"Ella? You okay?" Katie asked me, looking concerned.
"What? Oh, yeah. I'm fine," I tell her, smiling sweetly.
"You sure? It's just, you've been starring into space for a while now," she says.
"I was just thinking. That's all," I reply.
"Alright," she says, shrugging slightly, and I see Ashley's jacket's slipped from her shoulder.
"Oh, my God!" Bunny says, making me jump slightly and when I look over at her, her sister and her are trying to hide their giggles.
"What's so funny?" Katie asked them.
"Just something Echo said," Bunny says.
"Which is?" Katie presses.
"She said it reminded her of a song in the Lizzie McGuire Movie," Bunny says.
"Which song?" Ashley asked.
Bunny looks to Echo and sings, "Have you ever seen such a beautiful night?"
"I could almost kiss the stars, they're shining so bright," Echo sings, looking at Red.
"When I see you smiling, I go, oh, oh, oh," Red sings, poining at Katie.
"I would never want to miss this, cause in my heart, I know what this is," she sings, then Red, Echo, and Bunny sing, "Hey now, hey now."
"This is what dreams are made of," Bunny sings alone.
"Hey now, hey now," the girls sing together.
"This is what dreams are made of!" Red belts out.
"I've got somewhere I belong. I've got somebody to love. This is what dreams, are made of," Katie sings.
"Have you ever wondered what life is about?" Bunny sings.
"You could search the world and never figure it out," Echo sings.
"You don't have to sail the oceans, no, no, no," Red sings.
"Happiness is no mystery, it's here and now. It's you and me, yeah," Katie sings, dancing slightly on Ashley's lap.
They then repeat the chorus, then start clapping while Katie and Red sing the chorus again and Echo and Bunny chant, "Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!"
"Open your eyes!" Red sings, followed by Bunny and Echo singing, "This is what dreams are made of."
"Shout to the skies!" Katie belts out, followed by the twins again and they chant once more after that.
"When I see you smiling I go, oh, oh, oh," Red sings, finally sitting on Rocket's lap.
"Yesterday my life was duller," Katie sings, and then Red joins in and they harmonize with, "Now everything's Technicolor!"
Then they all finish with the chrous again, and laugh together.
"Only 90s kids," Andy says, laughing with them, and shaking his head.
"Hell yeah! 90s kids rock!" Red calls out, high fiving Andy.
"Hey now!" Ashley and CC call out together.
"Hey now!" the girls sing, then burst out laughing again.
"Is it always like this?" I ask Jake, through my own giggles.
"Pretty much," Jake chuckles in reply.
This is amazing. I'm almost jealous that they get to have this much fun all the time.
