You Saved Me

Something's Not Right

Katie's POV: When I wake up I'm not feeling too great, but I get out of bed anyway, and quickly get ready for school, then head down for breakfast, yawning deeply as I climb down the stairs. I sit at the breakfast bar, and Jayy sets a plate of toast, eggs, and hash browns in front of me, then makes his and Dahvie's plates up.
They sit next to me, at the bar, and Jayy says, "Sleepy?"
I nod, then take a small bite of my eggs, and notice that I'm shaking when the fork clinks against my teeth a few times. I pull my hand back, and watch as it shakes uncontrollably. What's going on with me?
I'm not cold, or stressed, or scared. I don't feel sick either, but here I am, shaking violently now, and slightly dizzy.
"...Wrong?" I hear Dahvie's voice ask, helping lift the fog slightly.
"What?" I ask, looking at him, but not really seeing him.
"I asked if something was wrong," he repeats.
I look back at my hand, and slowly say, "I'm not sure. I have a headache, I'm dizzy, I'm shaking, and I can't seem to focus."
I think I see Jayy and Dahive look at each other, then back to me, but I can't be sure, since that's when my world goes black.
Jayy's POV: "Micro!" I shout, as Dahive catches her in mid-air.
"She's out cold, man," Dahvie says, "And pale as can be."
"I'm calling an ambulance," I say, reaching for the phone. When the woman asked what my emergency is, I tell her what happened to Micro, then she says, "I'll send for help," and I thank her, then hang up.
Dahvie's moved Micro to the couch now, and is checking her pulse.
I then call Ashley up, knowing he'll be here soon to pick her up. He answers on the second ring.
"Jayy?" he asked.
"Yeah. Just meet us at the hospital. Something happened to Micro. Not sure what though," I tell him.
"Alright," he says, then hangs up.
"How's she doing?" I ask Dahvie as I enter the living room again.
He looks up at me, and says, "I'm not sure. She's not responding to much, and her breathing is shallow."
I then hear a knock on the door, and go to let the paramedics in. They check her out, then get her on the gurney and wheel her out. I get in the ambulance with her, and watch as they set her up with an IV, and check her vitals.
"Any idea what could be wrong with her?" I ask one of the paramedics.
"It could be a simple fluke, where she only passed out, low iron count, low blood pressure or sugar, internal bleeding, or ulcers. The doctors will run some tests when we get to the hospital," she tells me, then goes back to setting up the pads for the EKG machine.
When we arrive at the hospital, I try to follow Micro into the room, but I'm lead to the waiting room, where I find the Brides and Dahvie. Dahvie stands up and hugs me, then asked, "Do they have any idea what it could be?"
"I asked that, and the paramedic told me it could be as simple as what she called a fluke that caused her to pass out, to something as serious as internal bleeding. The doctors will be running tests to figure it out," I tell them.
I see Ashley run his hands through his hair, but he surprisingly remains silent. I sit with them, and Andy asked, "What kind of fluke could cause someone to pass out?"
I shrug, and say, "No clue."
Dahvie's POV: Man, this isn't good. What could have caused this?
I know Jayy's had issues in the past with low iron in his blood. Could that be what's now effecting Katie, or, God forbid, could it be worse?
I bow my head, then silently pray to God that nothing is seriously wrong with my little sister. It would crush Jayy and me if something happened to her, and I hate to even think about what might happen to Ashley. Especially after everything they've been through together and what was said last night. Yeah, Jayy told me she finally said she loves him.
We silently wait for about a half hour longer, then a nurse comes in, and says, "You may see her now."
"Any limit on how many can be in there at once?" Jayy asked.
She looks at the file in her hands, then says, "Nope. She's in room 11."
We thank her, then head down the hallway to Katie's room. Once we get there, my eyes widen as I see what shape she's in.
She's awake now, but hooked to an IV of fluids and another of blood. She's wearing an oxygen mask, and there's a heart monitor beeping with every beat of her heart. She doesn't acknowledge that we're here, as we all pile in, and sit and stand around the room, until Ashley takes hold of her hand.
"A-ley?" she quietly asked, looking over in his direction.
"Hey, baby," he whispers, "How are you feeling?"
"Like hell," she murmurs.
He smiles sadly at her, and says, "I'm sorry. We're going to get you taken care of though, baby. I promise."
She closes her eye and weakly nods her head. Her breathing evens out, and I can tell she's asleep again.
I sigh, then gently brush a few of the strands of hair from her forehead. When I do, I notice her skin's all clammy. Man. What could be doing this to her?
