You Saved Me
She Was a Skater Girl
It's taken about a week for me to start feeling better, but it works I guess. Today Dahvie, Haley, Jayy, and I are going to check out skateboards. Haley and I need one so we can ride together during the tour.
I hop out of my bunk in the BOTDF tour bus, then walk over to the bathroom, and hop in the shower. I take literally a 5 minute shower, then get out and get dressed. I put on minimal makeup throw my hair under a beanie, then throw on all my jewelry. I then walk out to the front lounge and grab my socks and Converse sneakers. I toss them on, then say, "Ready!"
"Someone's excited," Haley says with a giggle.
I stick my tongue out at her, then say, "Come on! By the way, I call shotgun!" as I pull at Jayy and Dahvie's hands. They chuckle at me, but get up, and we head off the bus. I zip over to the car and climb in, then bounce uncontrollably in my seat. Jayy laughs as he gets in the driver's side.
"So, what's this place anyway, Haley?" Jayy asked her.
"Local shop I found two years ago, called Covert-"
"Affairs?" Dahvie butts in, laughing his ass off.
"No. Covert Skate Shop," she says, rolling her eyes at him.
"Alright. Well, everyone ready?" Jayy asked, before putting the car in Drive and heading to our destination.
When we get there, and head inside, my jaw drops to the floor. Literally. This place has so many killer decks! I've never seen so many wicked skateboards in my life, then again, my parents never liked that I had a huge obsession with this kind of stuff. Oh well.
Don't get me wrong, I love and respect my parents, but I have to be me. I mean, that's the point of living life, right?
Haley and I split up, looking through all the boards, and I pick out a few I absolutely love. Dahvie checks them out, then holds them, after telling me to find a helmet. I roll my eyes at him, but do as told, and look at all the helmets.
One of them catches my attention, and it's love at first sight. I read on it, and see it's actually called The Wild Ones helmet. I laugh then grab it, and head back to where Dahvie, Jayy, and Haley are looking at the boards I picked out.
I show Dahvie the helmet, and he takes it from my hands. He then heads to the check out, and pays for the items, then passes me the bag.
We get to the parking lot, and Jayy says, "Try them out."
I shrug, then slip the helmet on and ride around the parking lot, pulling out my best tricks, even if those are small ones. Like I said before, my parents really wouldn't let me ride.
When I get back over to them, Haley says with a wink, "Looks like I have a new student on my hands. No big deal. We'll have fun getting you to my level"
I laugh then say, "Works for me," as I take the helmet off and placing it in the back with the boards.
We get back to the tour bus, then Haley and I work on some new tricks. I keep falling, and I'm starting to think I'll never be able to do it, when I finally get it. Haley and Jayy clap, encouraging me, and Jayy shouts, "Do it again!"
I smile back at him, then nod, and try once again, nailing it perfectly. This is pretty freaking awesome.
"Katie!" I hear someone shout my name, and when I look behind me, I see Juliet.
My eyes light up, then I skate over to her, and hug her tightly. She laughs, then hugs me back, and we talk for a moment. She then produces a bracelet and asked for my wrist.
"When I made this, I was thinking about you, so I wanted you to have one. It's called Dark Hearts Have Color Too, and all I need you to do is make a vow," she tells me.
"A . . . Vow?" I ask, uncertain I heard her right.
She nods, then I say, "Hmm . . . I vow to never self-harm anymore, then."
She smiles, and out of the corner of my eye I see Jayy and Dahvie high-fiving each other. Juliet then centers the beads, and wraps the strings around my wrist twice, and ties it. When she gets to the next knot she says, "Close your eyes, focus on your vow."
I nod, then do as told to, and I feel her ask, "Are you ready to take the vow?"
I swallow, then say, "Yes," and I feel her tie it 3 more times after that. I open my eyes when I her hands leave my wrist, and I look down at the beautiful piece of jewelry. I smile at it, then hug Juliet tightly, and thank her.
"So, how long will you be here for?" I ask her as I pull away.
"Till the end of tour, so we'll hang out later. I just wanted to tell you I was here, and give you this," she says, pointing to the bracelet. I nod, then she heads back to the BVB bus, probably to hang out with Andy.
An evil thought comes to mind, but I push it away. I won't do to Juliet what Andy did to Ashley and me the first night I stayed on their bus with them.
We opt to take a break, and I then take the helmet off, and slip on the hat I stole from Ashley last night.
