Camp Saviours

Running Away

“Ok…” I murmured sadly, standing up and heading toward the door of the bus.

“Hey, where are you going?” CC called after me.

I just grabbed my phone, pocket knife, and iPod, opened the door, and ran.

I sprinted down the street, ignoring all the strange looks I got, a girl wearing dark clothes with makeup running hectically down her face because of rogue tears.

I finally reached my destination, a tall conker tree, with branches perfect for sitting on. I climbed up to the branch that I had sat in for the last three years of my life. Next to the source of the branch, the BVB symbol had been carved into the rough bark.

I ran my fingers over the deep carving that I inflicted into the tree last summer. I quickly plugged in my iPod to my headphones and turned on Therapy by All Time Low. Taking out my pocket knife, I carefully carved the names of my heroes in around the symbol.
When I was calm enough, I cleaned off my makeup and leapt down from the tree, in a move that took a whole summer vacation to perfect.

I began the walk back the BVB bus, all the while listening to the music blaring loudly from my headphones. When I was about two streets away from where the bus was, when someone hugged me tightly from behind. I twisted quickly away, and then saw it was CC.

“NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!” CC yelled in the way that only CC can. I winced and backed away from him a bit, scared that he was angry at me.

Suddenly he stepped forward and hugged me again. He let go, but held onto my shoulders.

“Let’s go, the guys are worried about you.” We continued the walk to the tour bus, walking up the short flight of steps to the living room. All of the guys except CC, who was behind me, were sitting on the two couches that occupied the space. A look of relief crossed Andy’s face as he saw me standing nervously next to the driver’s seat.

Jinxx stood up and crossed the small room to me.

“Give me the knife.” He said, holding out a hand. I reluctantly put my precious knife into Jinxx’s waiting hand.

“Good. Now show me your arms.” I stretched out my tanned arms, and Jinxx inspected them. When he couldn’t find whatever he was looking for, he turned to the other guys.

“She’s clean!” He said triumphantly. I was confused.

“Clean of what?” I asked Andy.

“Cuts.” He said simply. The bus started slowly moving forward, toward the orphanage.
