Defending their honour...

We got out the car, and I followed Sammi up the stairs to a flat door. She knocked on it, and there were quick footsteps to the door, and it opened. Andy was stood there, his dark hair messy and sticking up, wearing only his jeans. His eyes travelled from Sammi to me then back to Sammi, and Sammi smiled up at him. "Lyra had an argument with her mom and stormed out. Thought it would be better if she came here with me." She said, and Andy nodded, a little taken aback, before covering it up with a smile. He stepped aside and let us in, and I looked around at the small flat. It was small, and a little cramped in places, but it was all a 21 year old needed to survive and live comfortable...on his own. Andy lead us through to the main part of the flat, and he motioned for me to sit down. "Sit, I'll get you something to drink." He said, grabbed Sammi's arm, and gently pulling her after him. He shut the door to, and I heard them talk. I gently edged to the side of the sofa, trying to hear what they were saying.

I could hear nothing but muffled voices, the higher whisper of Sammi and the low grumble of Andy. I sighed, and sat back, looking around at the poor décor of the room. A typical males room, nothing matching, nothing coordinated, just blue walls and a black carpet, with a picture of his parents on the wall. I chuckled to myself, ideas of new decorations and paint floating around in my mind. I sighed, picking at my fingernails, trying to listen to the conversation in the other room.

ANDYS POV

"What did she say? did you talk to her before she got kicked out?" I asked, looking at Sammi with wide eyes. "Nope, her mom wouldn't even let me in to talk to her. She just screamed at me that we ruined her daughter and that she has a chance at a better life."
"Well not with that scanky old cow."
"Andy!" she said, hitting my arm lightly. "What?! I'm only saying what I've seen."
"It's just because you don't get on with her."
"Well too bad for her because I like Lyra and nothings going to change our friendship."
"yeah well, the more time she spends with you the more she turns back into our Lyra."
"What do you mean?" I asked, looking at her confused. "I mean that her personality is becoming more and more clear. I mean she stormed out of her house today after an argument with her mother...and she had her phone in her hand with no real intention or need for it. Remember when she used to storm out then call you and you'd go and get her and bring her here, and she'd be here for hours and hours until she had calmed down enough to go home and completely ignore her parents." She said, and I smiled to myself, remembering. "Yeah, I remember, but she doesn't."
"I don't know Andy...I think parts of her does remember, it's just been pushed away as memories. Why else would she take her phone without any real need?"
"Force of habit?"
"Exactly..." she said, and I chuckled. "Look Sammi, if she hasn't remembered by now I don't think she ever will, we'll just have to start a fresh."
"Why do I feel like that's not going to possible with your feelings towards her."
"No, towards my Lyra. She's Lyra, but not completely mine." I said, and she sighed.

"We better go in there to her, she'll be wondering what were doing." she said, and I nodded, following her into the front room, grabbing a can of monster for Lyra on the way out. "Catch." I said, and she turned around, catching the can in her left hand. "You really need to redecorate." She said, and I chuckled sitting beside her. "Well I better be off. I'll see you both soon." Sammi said, and we watched her walk out. I sat down beside Lyra, and she opened the can of monster, and took a sip. "So what did you and your mom argue about?" I asked, and she stiffed slightly. "Oh...nothing."
"Well it's plain it's not nothing or why would you of stormed out?"
"I just...lost my temper, which isn't like me at all, I wouldn't hurt a fly usually." She said, and I blinked, realising that my Lyra always used to blow her top and the slightest things, and arguments with her mother were frequent, but they were always about me and how I was irresponsible and too old for her. The amount of times that woman had called me a pervert and said that I was going to make her into a prostitute was too many to count.

"You can tell me you know...I'm not going to tell anyone."
"Look Andy I'm not sure you want to know."
"I do, come on, do you trust me?" I asked, and I saw her grip tighten for a second on the can, then loosen. "I...yes."
"Then you can tell me anything."
"She was just....yelling, constantly about how she's tried to give me a good life and you are all taking it away from me. She was saying how your just a child and have no sense for anything and I yelled back saying that it made no sense because she's always on about that your to old for me and that you were using me. So I told her to fuck off and stormed out." She said, and I stared past her into the distance. That was my Lyra, always looking out for me. Every time her mom said something against me, she would defend me, and I knew that anything bad was said against her I would jump to her defence. We always had each others back, always. "Thank you..."
"For what?" She asked looking up at me. I looked down, letting my eyes lock with hers, and I felt a smile grace my lips. "For defending me."
"No problem, I'd rather do that than listen to her shit." she said, tucking her legs underneath her. I smiled, and we continued to talk as the day sky turned to night in what felt like a matter of minutes.
