A Dreamers Prayer

Trafiic, Chinese Food, and Big Plans

No matter how long you spend in traffic in LA no one ever gets used to it. It was a literal nightmare, hell on earth, a real pickle, the feeling of getting your hand stuck in the cookie jar. I could go on but at the moment I am currently flipping of an ass hole that cut me off then proceed to not move. I have road rage to the extreme. One time I actually got out of my car and yelled at a guy who was pissing me off. Today was actually a good day for me so I am just going to silently roll down my window and let my left hand fly in the wind with my flag of “go fuck yourself” hanging out the window.
I am so close to home I could smell the burnt food Lilly was fixing. She tires so hard to make good food but it never turns out like she wants. And to tell you the truth I am the same as she is, only I burn food and give others food poisoning. Yeah, let's just say I didn't do to well at my first job at McDonald's.

I turn down my street just as Days Are Numbered blares through my CD player. When I come to a stop sign I rock out to my favorite song and wish so bad that I could be hearing this from a live concert. Yes, I confess Black Veil Brides is one of my favorite bands. Most of my band mates get annoyed whenever I would blast their amazing music from the comfort of my room.

It is my turn to exit the stop sign and I continue to the house. The song barley ends when I pull up in the drive way. The whole band shares a house along with one car. That sure did get annoying but poor bands gotta do what poor bands gotta do. The house we all lived in was inexpensive compared to the size. It is a medium size two story house that has three rooms. I have my own room, Darin and Ben share a room and Lilly and Jason share a room. Being a couple they have no problem with that. I walk in to the living room to all three boys playing some shooting game. They are screaming and yelling at each other for the other to die and suck...well you get what I mean.

Lilly wasn't cooking and thank god for that. She had ordered Chinese instead. “Have you finally given up on cooking something good?” I ask walking into the kitchen while she is opening the containers of delicious food.

“I can ask you the same thing.” She smiles pulling out several paper plates.

“Honey, I gave up when I was 14. I have admitted to my downfall. You on the other hand, still think you can get better.” I say picking up a plate and digging in.

“Food!” I yell once Lilly and I had served ourselves first.

“Finally!”

“Thank the Lord!”

“Dude, I swear I was going to start eating people!” All three boys yell out in turn.

“I thought by now boys were supposed to stop eating so much?” Lilly asks taking her normal spot on the couch.

We have no money for a kitchen table so we just use the couch and floor. “We will never stop eating so much. Food is too good to save it for later. What if Darin is the first one to turn into a zombie and eats everyone of us?! Then we have to conform to eating people instead of real food.” Ben says.

“Dude, you wouldn't want normal food, you would want brains instead.” Jason says pushing Darin out of the way so he could get the last of the egg rolls.

“And besides America has so much food anyway I don't think we will ever run out.” Lilly says moving over to let Jason sit beside her.

I position myself on the arm rest of the couch and begin to wolf down my food. If I don't when the boys finish, which will be far too soon, they will come after my food. Ben takes is normal spot on the couch on the edge in between Jason and me. Darin sits on the floor and is finished with his food before anyone. I finish my bite remember something I heard from a friend.

“Hey, guys the end of a tour is ending here. A lot of bands are in the tour and they are having an after party. Maybe we can see if we can get in?” I suggest.

“Yeah!” They all say.

“How will we do that?” Lilly asks.

“We have a few connections.” I respond.

“Like what our manager?” Ben asks.

“Yeah we can totally ask him!” Jason yells.

“How is he going to get into an after party with beyond famous bands?” Darin adds.

“Okay well what about we ask Lou what he can do.” I say.

I know we really need to get known. All we have at the moment are a few fans on facebook and only a few EP's sold. We need a boost from another band to tell their fans about us. Most of the bands that are going to the party are very similar to the sound we produce.

“I'll call him,” Darin says taking out his phone and walking into the kitchen.

“And what if he can't get us in?” Ben asks.

I shrug and listen in on Darin's conversation with our manager. “Hey, Lou um we have discovered that an after party is happening fairly close to us and a lot of big bands are going to be there. We were all wondering if you could be able to pull some strings and get us in? It's a private party and we just...” Silence for a few second then he starts to talk again. “Yeah, I know.....okay let us know. Bye Lou.”

“What'd he say?!” We all ask at the same time.

“He said he would see what he could do but he makes no promises.” That was expected.

After we had all eaten we turned on the TV to The Big Bang Theory. None of my band mates knew what it was until I showed it to them, now all they do is watch it. I somewhat regret it but it's far to funny to completely regret my choice. Soon after the second show ended Lou called Darin back.

“Hey Lou...” Darin nods his head every once in a while then responds. “Maybe next time, right?” That wasn't a good sign. “Alright well thanks Lou.”

“He couldn't get us in?” I ask with a frown.

Darin shakes his head, “no.”

Being the demon child I was when I was little I devised a plan. “What if we sneak in?”

Everyone turns their attention to me. “You're kidding right?” Jason asks.

“No, think about it. So many bands were invited. There is going to be so many people there no one will even know we snuck in.” I try to reason.

“We can't just walk into a thing like that.” Jason argues.

“Wait, think about it. We just act like we're waiters or something. This could be a big opportunity for us!” Darin adds.

Everyone looks unsure, “if anyone asks we say that we were put on the list last minute.” I say.

“Fine,” Lilly says after a while. “We'll go,” we see Lilly as our “leader” because she is the lead singer and does everything for us.

I smile, “this is going to be one hell of a night. Get your party shirts on.”
