I Gave It All

Four

Claudia's POV~~

I woke up the next morning again by CC.

"Fuck off." I said.

"Do you not want breakfast?" He asked.

"Fine. Just let me change." I said. He nodded and then left. I squirmed out of my warm sleeping bag and looked through my bag of clothes, pulling out a new tank top and a thinner jacket, along with some socks and some pants. I changed and then put my shoes on and exited the tent. All the guys were sitting at the table, eating. I grabbed some eggs and some bacon and I sat down across from Andy and next to Jinxx, meaning I was on the end. I started eating, and it wasn't bad for camping food. It was, however, awkwardly silent.

"This is good. Who made this?" I asked, trying to start a conversation.

"Jake did. I helped a bit." Jinxx said. Now it was back to awkward silence. I continued to eat, staring at my plate the whole time, avoiding eye contact, mostly from Jake. Everyone left the table one by one once they were finished, leaving me and Andy last, since we were both last to get up. I looked up at Andy who was already looking at me.

"What?" I asked.

"Nothing." He said, and he continued to eat. I finished my food and left the table after cleaning up after myself. Holy shit, camping was a very bad idea. I looked up at the sky, it was grey and cloudy, seemingly like everyone's moods. I took a seat in front of the fire pit next to Ashley and CC.

"I feel like it's going to rain." I said. Ashley looked at me.

"You're probably right. It's getting dark." He said.

"If it does, I'm not sitting in a tiny tent. How did you get a big tent anyway?" I asked.

"I just have one. I don't know where I got it." Ashley said.

"Well, just know that if it rains, I'm hanging out with you in your tent." I said.

"Alright." Ashley said.

"We're not doing anything sexual, fuck." I said.

"Awww." Ashley whined. CC glared at him.

"What do you guys wa-" *Cue Thunder here*

"There she is!! Everyone get inside Ashley's tent!" I said once it started raining. I went in first and sat on his air mattress.

"Dude! This is a motherfucking family tent!" CC said once he was inside. Ashley just shrugged and sat next to me. Everyone else sat on the floor. I pulled out my phone and turned it on. I somehow had three bars.

"Guys, I have three bars." I said. They all looked at me weirdly.

"How?" Andy asked.

"Oh! I think it's because Ashley's tent is the closest to the Warden's camp site." I said.

"What would that have to do with anything?" Ashley asked.

"The Warden always has Wi-Fi in their motor homes and outside. You're close enough to access it." I said. Everyone then pulled out their phones and turned them on.

"Holy shit! I have ten missed calls from Jon." Andy said. He put the phone up to his ear and listened, then paled.

"Andy, what is it?" I asked.

"We have two rescheduled shows. One tomorrow and then the day after." He said.

"Fuck! Let's get packing!" Jinxx said.

"It's raining though!" Ashley pointed out.

"Fuck that shit! No one cares about your hair!" I said. We all started rushing to pack up all of Ashley's stuff. We quickly took down all the tents and everything at the table and the chairs. I hopped into the driver's seat of the car and then everyone else got in. We were all soaked and breathing hard. CC, Andy, and Ashley were all complaining about not being able to sit in the front. I looked over at Jake who looked somewhat annoyed.

"SHUT UP!" Jinxx yelled from the floor in the back. They all shut up immediately. I turned the car on after finally catching my breath and I pulled out of the parking space in front of the camp site we were in.

"Shittiest camping trip ever." I said. I drove for an hour in silence, still having two more hours left. I stopped at a red light and looked behind me. Andy, CC, and Ashley were asleep, I don't know about Jinxx. He was behind my seat. I looked over at Jake who was staring aimlessly out the window.

"I'm sorry." I said.

"For what?" Jake asked, not moving his head.

"For kissing you." I said. We sat there in silence for five minutes before he answered.

"It's okay. It was just..... unexpected, that's all." He said. I stared out the windshield, driving the speed limit.

"I understand." I said after a few more minutes.

"What do you mean?" Jake asked.

"I understand that you don't like me the same way I like you. It's okay." I said.

"I never said anything ab-"

"Just agree with it. You don't like me back." I said.

"No. I won't agree with it."

"Yes. Just do it." I said.

"No."

"Yes."

"No, Claudia."

"Yes, Jake. Just fucking admit it. You don't like me back. No one ever cou-"

"Claudia! Stop it!" Jake said, raising his voice.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because. Everything you're saying isn't fucking true." Jake said.

"How would you know?" I spit back, rather harshly. Jake looked at me and then put his head against the window, looking aimlessly out of it again.

"I just do." He mumbled. We stopped at another light and I took the time to put in a CD. It was called Everywhere We Go by Kenney Chesney. Country is always beautiful. The first song started playing, and I started singing along.

"Who is this?" Jake asked. I sighed.

"Kenney Chesney. This CD helped when my first ever boyfriend in highschool broke up with me." I said. Jake didn't say anything after that. I returned my attention to the road. On the fourth song, I heard CC wake up.

"What are you listening to?" He asked.

"Music." I said, not wanting to talk anymore. I think CC got the hint, because he didn't say anything after that. Another hour passed, and somewhere in that hour, the CD stopped. I didn't worry about it though. I needed a break from sitting for a few minutes, so I pulled into a quick stop. I took the keys out of the ignition and and I got out of the car. I put my damp hair up into a pony tail and I took my jacket off. I stepped out of the car with my wallet and I went inside the store. I hit the bathroom and then I grabbed a Pepsi from the fridge thing and I paid. I walked back to the car and saw that no one else had moved. I rolled my eyes and got back in, setting my soda in the cup holder and starting the ignition. I pulled out of the parking lot and got on the freeway finally. After another hour of driving, we were back at the venue where the bus was. I pulled into a parking space and I killed the ignition. I saw Jon standing near the bus and I grabbed my unfinished Pepsi and I got out with Jake following me. CC had fallen back asleep, so we didn't bother any of the four. I walked up to Jon and handed him the keys. He took them and went to the car, assumingly waking the others up. Jake and I walked into the bus and I sat on the couch. Jake just stood looked at me.

"What?" I asked.

"Can you tell me about your past boyfriend? And why that CD helped you so much?" Jake asked.

"Why does it matter? The guy dumped me for my 'best friend'. He was just a jerk. That's all." I said.

"Well, I want to know. Please?" Jake asked.

"It's stupid, okay? I was just a stupid fifteen year old girl who had a stupid sixteen year old boyfriend." I said.

"It's fine, you can tell me." He said.

"It's not that simple. It's just something I don't feel comfortable with talking about." I said. I felt tears prick my eyes, but I blinked them back.

"What about the dream you had the other day? Can you tell me about that?" He asked. I knew he was trying to make me feel better, but this was just not working.

"Jake!" I said, tears now falling. I stood up and proceeded to my bunk, but Jake pulled me back. He made me look at him.

"What's the matter?" He asked.

"There is no matter!! I just don't want to talk about it!" I said.

"Why?"

"Jake, let me go." I said.

"Fine, but I was just trying to help." He said. He let go and walked away into the bunk area. I sat down on the couch and put my head in my hands. The guys entered and then the driver entered. He went to his seat and started the bus.

"Claudia, what's wrong?" CC asked.

"N-nothing." I said.

"Nice try. Tell me." CC said.

"I'm fine, CC." I said.

"No you're not. Tell me." He said.

"There's nothing wrong! Just leave me be!" I said. I stood up and walked to my bunk. I closed the curtains and laid there, crying.

"Claudia, can I talk to you?" Jake asked. I sighed and opened the curtains. I followed him into the bathroom, and he closed the door and locked it. I closed the lid on the toilet and I sat down on it.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know how sensitive those two subjects would be for you." Jake said. He kneeled down in front of me so he was the same height as me.

"It's okay Jake. I overreacted. It's not your fault." I said.

"Yeah, it is, and I want to make it up to you." He said.

"You don't need to. I think I'm going to take a break from the dating world for a while. Someday, I might get over you." I said. Jake just stared at me. I wiped some more tears away and stood up. Jake did too and I walked past him and to the door.

"Claudia!" Jake called after me. I just ignored him and walked past all the bunks and to the lounge. I can't believe I just said that to the man I knew I couldn't get over.
