When I was a baby, the world changed. A social group who wanted total control came to power and destroyed everything and anyone who opposed them. My entire life I have been inside an old apartment building watching the season’s change and life go on. No one has left since F.E.A.R. took power almost 18 years ago. Anyone who tried was then locked in the cells in the bottom of the building and left for dead in the darkness. However some have left before but they always return. My friends, Matthew and Emmett have left before. They tell me stories of what its like to feel the sunshine and the wind. Every so often, they sneak out using their balcony and sit on the grass. Matt once brought me a flower. It was beautiful and smelled sweet. My mom’s books tell me it was a rose. It was lovely that was until my twin sister destroyed it. She hates me. Although she has good reasons to. I have what she has wanted her entire live and envious me for. Magic.


I didn’t ask to be born first with the line of Magic going to me and not her. But because I was born first, I got it instead of her. But she has her own things I envy. She has lots of friends and things while I have my dog Max (who I can talk to because of my Magic) and Matt. He was the one guy who didn’t think I was a freak. Mostly because his brother was born with the ability of dreaming future advents. He never met his brother though because he and their father were in the town of Trees when the Shadows attacked their father and his brother hid. He doesn’t know what happened to him. Anyways, my name is Wednesday. I know its odd but it suits me quite well. Andrea, my twin makes fun of me for it. It seems like we should hate each other but I love her very much. Besides my younger siblings and parents, she is all I have. I don’t have a boyfriend or any true friends. I’m always getting her out of trouble.


Walking up the 6 flights of stairs from the main floor, which is kind of like a mall where we buy what we need, I made it to our apartment. I saw her with something and was attacking the bars on the out side of our windows. She saw me after she got it off, gave me the peace sign as well as the finger and jumped. I ran and watched her fall to the ground. Emmett ran to her rescue and then helped her back up to the building after scolding her for acting so stupid. What’s stupid is that she likes him and he doesn’t know. I liked him but he’s never shown any interest in me so I let Andrea have him. He likes her too. I see it. a shadow guard showed up at our door and pushed his way in and took my sister to the cells. I tried to go after her but Emmett grabbed me and held me back. I screamed and shouted as she disappeared. “Why did you do that? Now we will never see her again!” he looked away and said, “ We can rescue her and escape. I hear that there is a group of rebels who are going to fight them. If we escape we can find safety. The building is about to go down in chaos. It wont be safe anymore. People will steal and kill for necessities. We need to leave soon.”


I nodded and replied, “I think I read about them in one of Momma’s books. Let me get it. Flipping through the pages, I found the writing that mysteriously showed up the other day. It read: the church of wild ones will fight F.E.A.R. Legions will fight to the death and one side will come out victorious.” I turned the page and watched as writing showed up. It then read, “to get to the camp, follow the north star to the Nevada desert. They are located near what was once Las Vegas.” I sent Emmett to gather supplies and Matt while I formulated a plan. I also thought about the world he told me about. People were allowed to travel, had rights and saw the out side of the building. Now, the only way out is if you escape but if you escape, your killed.


The plan was, find the wild ones and hope they will help us or at least let us stay in there camp until we figure something else out. I packed the only bag I owned with magic books and water. I found some jerky and stuffed as much as I could in my pockets before putting my dress on. Women are forced to wear these mandatory dresses that go to the floor and are long sleeved with hoods. It’s a bitch when the building is hot. I did a location spell and figured out where Andy was. Once I knew where she was, I did a scope of the area. There were two shadows on duty. We only had mere seconds to free her and be gone before they spotted us. Emmett returned with his mandatory hooded coat that went to the floor and hid his bag underneath like I did. We met Matt in the hall who was also ready. I made sure I packed Andy a bag of food and water that would last us about a week and a half if we stretched it.



We then headed down to the main floor and then walked past a merchant booth. Mamma saw me and called out my name in Spanish, “Wednesday, I hear about Andrea, your journey will be long and dangerous. And when you return, there may be nothing to return too. Understand that dear daughter. I love you more than anything. This may be good-bye for good. I love you. Use this spell when Shadows are around. It will protect you and keep this rosary hidden.” And she handed me a necklace and a paper with writing on it. I hugged her tight and then we made our way to the basement. Using the spell mamma gave me, I protected us as we freed Andy and then escaped. We ran for miles until we came across a town. It was odd. We removed our required clothing and shoved them in our bags. I saw a car. It was what I read about in a book. A camaro. It was beautiful. I unlocked it and we all got in. I enchanted it so it would drive and not be difficult. As we drove we noticed that two agents were looking for us. Uh oh!


We pulled into a shopping center and left the boys in the car. Running into a bathroom, we found the mind control mops. It’s like why the hell is it a mop? But that’s what it is. You mop the floor with it and then are able to take control of some and make them say what you want them to say. Grabbing one, I then enchanted it and then found some workers. “You never saw us. We don’t exist.” The worker than went on with her day after Andrea and me got some food, sleeping bags and water. The agents saw us as we were driving away. Chanting a spell, I used all the power that I could and then was able to leave them behind. Andrea realized we only had clothes for girls so she made me stop at a store for guys.


When I say stop, I don’t mean like you get out and park stop. I mean we drove into the store (hey the doors were already open), rolled the windows down and grabbed stuff before driving away. What’s odd is that even though F.E.A.R. took over, parts of the old world still exist. It’s strange. Getting on a free way, we drove until the road was no more. When the road dissipated into mountains, we had to leave the car behind. I never had something so amazing before. Wait a minute! I have an idea!! Going through my mini spell book, I found the spell I was looking for. Chanting it, I turned the car into the size of my finger and then put it in a pocket bellow my mandatory dress that I really wanted to burn. The only positive about it was when it was cold it kept you warm.



We then began the hike through the treacherous, steep mountains. Night came and we stopped once we felt safe. Climbing into the trees, we tethered ourselves in and I put an enchantment spell to keep us hidden while we slept.I remember Emmett once saying a character in a movie once did this. Oh how I would love to see a movie. Elders, tell us how they miss them and how they were amazing. Now, we have barely any electricity, the building shares it. going to sleep, I hoped things would turn out okay.
