Ashley’s POV

It had taken me almost on hour to calm Jade down at to stop her cries. I could feel my heart breaking in two at the sound and knowing that there wasn’t much that I could do about it. I felt so useless, I was supposed to be her big brother and protect her but the one thing I couldn’t protect her from was the memories that still haunted the both of us. I looked down at the girl asleep in my arms and tears started to well up in my eyes. My sister was just so innocent and sweet and would never understand why anyone would treat her like that and make her feel like she’s worthless. My sister didn’t deserve anything that happened to her and I was determined to always protect her best that I could.

I shifted a little so I could lay her down and tuck her under the covers. I brushed her hair out of her face before I kissed her forehead and made my way out of the room and shutting the door. I sighed deeply knowing that I would have to face my friends, my brothers after hiding something so big from them. I didn’t know what their reactions would be like I was just hoping they weren’t too mad at us for lying to them. I walked down the stairs and everyone’s head’s shot up to look at me and I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair.

“How is she?” CC asked. I observed everyone and noticed that all of their eyes were blood shot and tear stains were on everyone’s faces.

“She’s sleeping, so she has some peace right now hopefully.” I stated knowing that she might have nightmares soon and that I should go back up there to comfort her. The back door opened and Andy walked in hugged to Mary Ann’s side. He still had tears streaming down his face and he wasn’t even bothering to hide it. I always knew that if everyone was to find out that Andy would take it the hardest. Andy and Jade were just so close and I know even though there was literally nothing he Andy could do he was still blaming himself.

“I’m going to go stay with her.” Mary Ann stated and I gave her a weak smile.

“Thank you.” She gave me a weak smile back before heading up the stairs. I sat down next to CC on the loveseat and Andy sat down on the rug holding his knees to his chest.

“Ashley why didn’t you ever tell us?” Jinxx asked and I bit my lip in nervousness. “We understand but did you not trust us enough to tell us?”

“No, it isn’t like that at all. We both just wanted to move on from it and leave it in the past. I decided to keep it a secret more for Jade’s sake; I didn’t want her to be treated differently or looked down on. I couldn’t let her be hurt again.”

“She’s like our little sister too and we want to know.” Jake said “Can you tell us? We want to be there for the both of you but we have to know what you’ve both been through.”

“Are you sure you want to hear it?”

“Of course we’re all family and family sticks together no matter what.” CC said giving me reassurance and I sighed.

“Well I guess I need to start from the beginning then.” I sighed deeply again before I started to spill out everything from the beginning.

I was so excited to see my little sister, I hadn’t seen her in about a month, the last time I saw her was for her tenth birthday. I smiled to myself because Jade is just the cutest thing, my dad is a dick and a loser for not wanting anything to do with her. If he was a real man he’d own up to his responsibilities, I don’t even care that Jade is the result of my father’s affair. She is still my little sister and I love her to death.

I wished that Jade was able to live with me, her mother was a nice enough woman but to me there was always something off about her and it made me worried for Jade’s safety. I always had to reassure myself that I was being paranoid though. After all she was Jade’s mother, she wouldn’t do anything to harm her.

I couldn’t wait to see her, even though her birthday was last month I couldn’t resist in buying her another present. I knew how much she loved the Care Bears and Cheer Bear was her favorite, I had bought her one that was practically half her size and I knew she was going to love it. I was glad it was a Saturday because I doubt her mother would mind me taking her out for the day. Seeing the familiar small house that contained my sister I couldn’t help but to smile. They didn’t live in one of the nicest neighborhoods but it was still safe. I parked my car right on the sidewalk next to their house and I stared slightly confused at the car that was already parked in front of mine. Out of all the times that I’ve been over they have never had a guest before.

Getting out of the car I went to the back seat to grab her bear but a noise from the house caught my attention. Despite my distance I could hear something made my blood run cold. I heard a small scream, I’d know that voice anywhere and I knew that my little sister needed me and quickly. Rushing back to the front I searched around in the glove compartment for the handgun my dad had stashed in the car. I never bothered to question why it was there but now I found it in handy. I stuffed it in my back pocket and bolted.

I quickly ran to the door and I could hear Jade whimpering in pain and with no hesitation I kicked the door down. What I saw when I entered the living made my blood boil and rage that I have never felt before filled beyond comprehension. Some fat bastard was standing above my baby sister who was naked and bound and gagged on the floor, while her mother was just sitting on the couch staring at me in shock. Before she could say anything the man started to speak.

“Hey asshole if you’re here to collect this pretty little thing tough luck, I already put in a high offer and as of now I officially own this little beauty.” He said his voice laced with some sick sense of pride. I took a glance at my sister who was staring up at me with terrified eyes streaming with tears and that’s when I lost it. Losing myself in the moment I had tackled the man to the floor punching and kicking any part of him I could. I felt a giant shove come my way and I fell to the floor. Jade’s mother had pushed me and she was breathing heavy.

“I already sold this little cunt and you will not fuck this up for me!” She hollered and I stood up reaching into my back pocket and pulling out the gun. They both froze in place and I growled.

“Both of you get the fuck down now!” I all but bellowed. “You sick bastard untie her right now!” I stated deadly calm pressing the gun directly to the back of his head. He scrambled and instantly started to untie my sister. I was seething with rage and I was so close to killing them both. I turned to the bitch and growled. “How could you do something like this to your own fucking daughter! You are a sick woman that doesn’t even deserve to live!”

She couldn’t even say anything she just cowered in the corner in fear. I watched that man like a hawk as he untied my sister making sure he didn’t try anything. I took in my sister’s appearance and looked over all the cuts and bruises and noticed the blood between her thighs. A tear fell down my cheek as realized what had happened to my sister.

As soon as she was freed I kicked the man straight in the gut. “I should fucking kill you for touching my sister like that you sick fuck. She is only ten years old!” I gathered the sobbing girl in my arms and held the gun out in front of me. “You follow me I while blast a hole in your fucking heads.” I hissed and they both stood still. Wanting to get the fuck out of there as soon as possible I rushed into Jade’s room and quickly put her in some clothes all the while trying to calm her down.

“Ssh Baby girl I’m here, you’re safe now alright? I won’t let them harm you again.” I grabbed a duffle bag from in her closet and stuffed as many clothes in as I possibly could. I wished that I could wash her off but I didn’t have time for that. With my sister in my arms and the duffle bag on my back I rushed into the hallway and towards the living room still holding the gun out in front of me.

I saw those two poor excuses for humans still cowering on the floor and I growled kicking the man in the groin and slapping that other monster that dared to call herself a mother across the face with the gun.

“I hope you burn in hell for what you’ve done to her! You deserve worse than hell, you’re lucky I’m more concerned about my sister’s well-being because I could kill you right now but I don’t want her to see that.” Before I did something I would regret I stormed out of the house and taking my sister to the car. She had stopped crying but I could tell that she was in shock. She hadn’t said a word and I kissed her forehead before reluctantly letting her go and buckling her seat belt. I quickly drove off wanting to get Jade as far away from that place as possible.

The whole car ride to my house was eerie silent besides the occasional sobs coming from my sister. It broke my heart into pieces to hear the pain coming from my little angel. Right then and there I vowed that I would do everything in my power to protect her.

When we arrived at my house she was still staring blankly in front of her and it was starting to scare me. Jade looked up at me with dead looking eyes and I just picked her up and carried her into the house. I noticed that my parents weren’t home and I sighed slightly grateful that I could put off explaining why she was here.

“I’m going to get you cleaned up okay?” I said putting her stuff in my room. “I’m going to start a bath for you, so just lie down and I’ll be right back.” I placed her on my bed and started to walk out the door but her tiny hand grabbed my wrist making me stay in place. She shook her head frantically still not speaking, and tears welled up in her eyes again.

“Okay, okay you can come with me it’s okay I won’t leave you.” I picked her up again and she snuggled her face into my neck. She still hadn’t said a word and I was extremely nervous about it. I sat her down on the closed toilet seat and started to run her a bath. Jade was sniffling to herself and I could tell that she wanted to cry but she was trying to be a big girl. Without any hesitation she let me remove her clothing and place her in the tub. I was going to wash her back but her small hands grabbed the wash cloth from my hand and held it tightly. She just looked up at me with big doe eyes and I smiled.

“Do you need me to turn around Baby Girl?” I asked gently and she bit her lip and nodded. I patted her head and luckily she didn’t shrink away. I placed a towel near the tub so she could reach for it when she was done and turned around. “Take all the time you need Baby Girl, I’m right here and you’re safe.” She didn’t say anything in response and I didn’t expect her too.

I just stared ahead of me and let my mind run wild, I was still in a state of shock and I seriously didn’t know what to do. But the one thing I knew for certain was that she was never going back to the house and that monster of a mother. I was still so angry that I could go all the way back there and kill them both but I was never leaving my sister’s side ever again.

I could hear the front door open and I knew that my parents were home. I didn’t how I was going to go about explaining everything to them. My father never saw my sister unless he had to but I don’t think he’d be so cruel as to turn her away after something like this happened. I was so into my thoughts that I jumped slightly when I felt a light tap on my shoulder. I turned around and just smiled at Jade. So was looking up at me with a towel that was way too big for her, despite everything she was still the cutest thing I have ever seen.

“You all set Jade?” I asked and she just nodded again. “Alright let’s get you to bed.” I helped her put on one of my old shirts and guided her back to my room. I pulled the covers of my bed back and helped her in. I tucked her in and kissed her forehead before I pulled up a chair and sat down at the side of my bed holding one of her tiny hands in mine. “I’ll stay by your side the whole night okay? Nobody is going to harm you again just try to go to sleep okay.” Once again my sister didn’t say anything instead she just closed her eyes and tried to get to sleep.

Eventually she fell asleep and I stayed with her for a few moments making sure she was really asleep before I snuck out of the room and made my way downstairs to talk to my parents and tell them what was going on. Both of my parents were sitting on the couch watching something I didn’t care about on TV. My mother tried around and smiled warmly at me while my father didn’t spare me a glance, so typical.

“Hi Ashley did you have fun with your sister?” she asked, I know it still hurt her knowing that I still wanted to be a part of my sister’s life.

“There’s something I need to talk to both about.”

“What is it Ashley?”

“Jade is here in my room sleeping right now-”

“What?” My dad shouted standing up looking nothing short of furious. “You let that thing in my house!”

“Keep it down she’s sleeping, and don’t call her a it! She is my sister and your daughter none the less.”

“Why the fuck would you bring her here? I told you I want nothing to do with her.”

“Because when I went to visit her monster of a mother was trying to sell her! Jade was raped dad and her mother was trying to sell her to some disgusting old man if I had gotten there just a few moments later she would have been sold as some kind of sex slave. She’s only ten years old!”

“Don’t care take her back.” He growled and at first all I could do was stare at him in disbelief.

“Fuck no!”

“If you don’t than I will.” He tried to walk past me but I punched him spare in the jaw knocking him to the floor.

“Over my dead body will you touch or send my sister back there.” I growled.

“I will not have that disgrace in my house!”

“Fine then, we’re leaving.” I stated before turning on my heel and storming back up the stairs to my room. I locked the door behind me so my sad excuse of a father couldn’t barge in. I sighed in relief because Jade was still sound asleep. Opening my closet I search around for duffle bags and packed as much stuff in the three that I could find. Even though I didn’t want to I had to wake my sister up. I shook her lightly she almost instantly woke up looking nothing short of terrified.

“Hey Jade calm down its just me.” I visibly saw her relax and she sat up wincing a little before rubbing her eyes. “We have to go now Baby Girl, once we get back in the car you can go back to sleep.”

She just nodded and slowly slipped out of my bed. There was a sudden banging on the door followed by my father’s yelling and Jade let out a terrified squeak and hide behind me.

“Stay behind me okay?” She just whimpered in response and I felt my blood boil because my father was scaring her. I managed to grab all of our bags and her hand before taking a deep breath and forcefully opening the door. I managed to knock my father down and he just lied there on his back in total shock for a split second before yelling again. I was too focused on getting Jade out of the house to listen. I moved past him quickly practically dragged Jade down the stairs.

I walked past my mother who was just looking at the scene from the couch in tears. I knew she wanted me to stay but she was too much of a coward to ever go against my father. I didn’t bother to say goodbye before I walked straight out of the house and towards my car. I dropped all of the bags and secured Jade in the backseat. Just as I put the last bag into the car I heard my father’s voice again. He was charging towards the car and I quickly went to the glove compartment and pulled out the gun again.

“Get back in this fucking house right now! You ungrateful little-” My father cut himself off and froze in place when I turned around and he was face to face with his own gun.

“Take one step closer and I will blow your fucking brains out. You are no better than her mother and I want nothing to do with any of you. I’ll raise my sister myself and be a better parent than either of you will ever be combined! So get your fatass back in the house old man before I kill you and trust me I don’t give a fuck if you’re my father, I will pull this goddamn trigger!” I fired a warning shot by his feet and he fled back into the house.

I turned around and looked at Jade looking at everything going on through the window and quickly threw the gun on the ground before opening the back door and gave my sister a hug.

“Everything is going to be okay now, I promise. We’re going to go very far away and it’s just going to be you and me. Nobody is ever going to lay a finger on you again Jade I promise.” I kissed her forehead before putting a blanket over and climbing into the driver’s seat. I quickly pulled away no even bothering to look back at the place I would never call home again.

I didn’t know where I was going and I didn’t have that much money but I was determined to be there and provide for my sister because she deserved to be taken care of. Nobody was going to ever harm my sister again, because they would have to go through me first and I was willing to die for my sister. Nobody was going to harm my Baby Girl ever again.
