I woke up the next morning feeling completely alone. I was. Misty was out for the day, god only knows where Tate is. So I sat at the kitchen table hoping Andy would call me. The phone rang. My heart raced and I picked it up. I looked at the caller I.D. It wasn’t Andy, but it was my mother. Oh Christ. I ignored it. After it was done ringing, she tried to call again. I still refused to pick it up. She even called a third time, by now I was irritated and answered.

“HELLO?” I asked sternly

“Son—Sonny are you there?” my moms voice shook

“Uh, YES?” I replied

“Sonny I’m in trouble” she said

“Trouble? What kind of trouble?” I sat up in my seat

“It’s Michael….he uh he

“What did he do to you?!!!” I pressed

“He hit me Sonny” she finally said “He’s coming home tonight and I’m scared, can you come get me?” she asked

“Mom, I don’t have my car” I said “Why don’t you come here?” I asked

“Because Michael took my car, his broke down” she said

I sighed. “Then come in a cab” I said

“I can’t” she said

“WHY?” I asked

“I don’t have any money” she said, she started to cry

“ok ok, I’ll come and get you ok?” I said

“Thank you honey” she said

“I’ll be right over” I said

I hung up. I knew it. It was going to happen sooner or later. God what a sack of shit, how dare he touch her. I have to admit, I’m still angry with her, but I can’t just ignore her pleas. She’s my mother fot god sakes, no one should be hit. Not even her. I got dressed quickly and called a cab. They got there quickly. The ride to my mom’s house was wrenching. We arrived up front. I called her phone.

“Hello?” she answered

“I’m out front” I said

“Honey I haven’t even packed” she said

I sighed “Ok I’ll just pay the cab and get another one when you’re ready” I said

I paid the driver and he left. I walked up the sidewalk and knocked on the door. No one answered.

“Mom?!” I banged my fist on the door

No one answered. What the hell? Is she even home? I tried to open the door but it was locked. I shifted my feet off the front door mat, there’s a key under there. I bent down and lifted the mat picking up the key. I stuck it in the door and unlocked it. I stepped inside. The place seemed empty.

“Mom?” I called out

I walked into the living room and kitchen, I even looked upstairs.

“MOM?!” I called out again

What the hell she’s not here? I made my way towards the door to leave. It was closed. I don’t remember closing it.

“Hello Sonny” I heard a familiar voice behind me. The voice that struck terror in my heart. The voice that always rang in my ears.

I turned and gulped. Michael stood there just ten feet away with his arms crossed. He smirked. I grabbed the door handle. It was locked. The deadbolt too.

“She’s not here, is she?” my voice shook

“No she’s not” he smiled stepping closer

I backed into the door. I unlocked the bottom lock. I was shaking so hard. He stepped even closer. By now I unlocked the deadbolt. I quickly turned around and yanked the door. It cracked opened and slammed. GOD DAMMIT. I looked up. THE FUCKING CHAIN. I felt a presence behind me before I could react. Michaels hand reached around me and slammed the door shut. He pressed me against the door. I could feel his breath on the back of my neck.

“It’s been so long for me” he laughed to himself

I could feel tears streaming down my face. I was shaking now.

“You’re mother just hasn’t lived up to you” he said

“Where is she?!” I turned

“Away” he smirked

“WHERE IS SHE?” I pressed

“Safe…at a hotel” he smirked “By god it took her forever to do this for me” he said

“WHAT DO YOU MEAN?” I pressed

“I set it up, you’re mom went along with it to get you here ALONE” he smiled leaning into my face.

I spit straight in his face. He wiped it away smiling slightly.

“I like the new you, you fight back, it’s so much more fun that way” he put his arms on both sides of me like a cage

Everything I have gained fell apart in my soul.
