Black (Veil) Ops
Chapter 1
My name is Carolyn Jett. No, I'm not related to Joan Jett, we just have the same last name. I'm just a 22-year old secretary working for the director of a mental hospital.
Because of my work, I tend to see a lot of weird and memorable things. But one day I will never forget happened about a year ago. The day they brought in Andy. The day that would change all of our lives forever.
I had already known Andy and the guys for a few years at that point, and we'd all grown really close. When one of us laughed, everyone laughed. When one of us cried, everyone cried. We were a family. Which why I was shell-shocked when I saw two orderlies leading in a new patient.
"Andy?" I asked running over. "Andy, what's going on?"
"It's nothing," he said calmly. "Just a misunderstanding."
"Misunderstandings don't usually put you in an institution."
"Miss, could you please move along?" one of the orderlies asked me.
"Hey look, I work with your boss, so I'm gonna finish my conversation," I said, flashing my ID at him. "A misunderstanding about what?" I asked Andy.
"Silverton," he said quietly, casting his eyes quickly around the room. "Somehow he's managed to convince everyone that I'm a little off my head."
"But that's ridiculous."
"I know that, and you know that, but the fact remains that Silverton has over half this town in his pocket."
"But..." I began.
"Carolyn," he said, putting his hands on my shoulders, "It'll be alright. Let it go." He pulled me into a hug. "Find Jinxx," he whispered. "He'll know what to do."
I nodded as he let me go.
"Don't worry," Andy said as they led him away, "Everything will be okay."
The trip across town to Jinxx and Sammi's apartment felt longer that day then it ever had before. I tried desperately to pull myself together as I knocked on the door.
"Jinxx, Andy's been commited, and he said to come find you, and that you'd know what to do," I rushed as Jinxx pulled the door open.
"Whoa, Carolyn, slow down. Come inside and tell me again, slowly, and from the beginning.
"Okay," I managed as I followed him in.
"Oh, hey Carolyn," CC called from the couch, where he and Jake sat playing some video game. Probably Mortal Kombat again. "What's up?"
"Andy's in a mental hospital."
"Okay, I hate to say 'I told you so', but we all knew this day would come eventually," Jake said, looking up from the TV.
"Jake!" Sammi said, somewhat incredulously.
"What? I'm just saying."
"Guys! This isn't helping anything!" I said, trying hard not to sound as upset as I was.
"Okay, okay," Jinxx said, coming back over to where I was standing. "What exactly did Andy say to you?"
I sniffled a bit as I pulled my thoughts together to answer him. "He said to come and find you, and that Silverton was behind all of this, and that you would know what to do."
"Call Ash. Tell him to get over here."
I nodded and pulled out my phone to call Ashley.
"What are you guys gonna do?" I heard Sammi ask Jinxx as I waited for Ash to pick up.
"Whatever we have to do," Jinxx told her.
"Hello?" Ash asked as he answered the phone.
"Ash it's me," I said. "We need you over here at Jinxx and Sammi's like, now."
"Uh, I'm a little bit, um, busy at the moment. Can it wait 'til tomorrow?"
"Andy's in a mental hospital."
There was a pause at the other end of the line. "Okay, I hate to say 'I told you so'..."
"Yeah, I know, Jake said the exact same thing," I said impatiently.
"Here, lemme see the phone," CC said holding out his hand.
I sighed slightly and handed it to him.
"Ashley, get your butt over here right now. I don't care who she is," CC said, then handed my phone back to me.
"Alright, I'm coming, jeez. Tell Muppet Man he should start tryin' decaf," Ash said as I took the phone back.
"Thank you," I said, as I ended the call.
"Is he coming?" CC asked me.
"Yeah, he's coming, just as soon as he can find his pants. Oh, and he says you should try decaf."
Jinxx laughed. "Alright, now listen Carolyn, ever since Silverton first came here, we've been working to bring him down. Which is probably why he loony-binned Andy, to get him out of the way, so that he can continue 'doing business' here."
"And you guys never told me about this why?" I asked, feeling somewhat hurt.
"We didn't want anyone to be involved that didn't have to be. Most of us never told anyone about it."
"Did you know about this?" I asked, turning to Sammi.
She shook her head. "Just a little bit."
"Who else knew?"
"Jon, Matt, and Dante all know, and I think Jeffree knows too," Jake said.
"Okay, so now that you know that, we need to know exactly what happened," Jinxx continued.
I took a deep breath, and began to tell them everything that had happened that day.
