Everyone in the room was dead silent. Ashley told them what happened outside, and how it was his fault. Andy's body laid on the bed motionless, except for his lungs. They were trying to bring air in to Andy's body.
"Damn it, I should have been there." Ashley said, slamming his fist into the wall.
"Ashley, stop beating yourself up." Sandra said, slipping a hand on his shoulder. Ashley turned around and glanced at her.
"How can you tell me to stop beating myself up," Ashley said turning around and hitting the wall again, "We made an oath to take care of him. I failed that oath damn it!" Ashley rested his forehead against the cold wall.
"Hey, I failed that oath to, but I'm not beating myself up over it. No one could have guess that the events that happened tonight would happen." Sandra said, looking from Ashley to the body on the bed, and back.
Ashley sighed and sat down in the chair, " I guess you are right." He spoke putting his head in his hands.
A groan from the bed made everyone freeze. Ashley noticed some color had returned to the young boys body. And to his surprise he saw the eyes began to flutter open.
"Wh-where am I?" Andy spoke, trying to sit up, but stop because of the pain that shot from his legs to his head. Sandra and Ashley rushed to his side, both making Andy lay back down on the bed.
"Hey, take it easy tiger. Just relax." Sandra spoke, smiling down at Andy. Andy returned the smile at the sound of his old nickname. He had gotten it when him, Ash, and Sandra were kids, and had gotten into Ash's mom's make up. Sandra had drawn tiger stripes on him.
"Yeah, just take it easy okay... You scared the hell out of me." The voice next to him said. Andy turned to see who it was and saw Ashley lazily smiling at him. Then he saw some bruising on Ashley's face and neck. Weakly, Andy lifted his had and traced the discolored marks on Ash's skin.
"Ash.." His whispered, then he felt a hand remove his. Ashley softly rubs the knuckles on Andy's hand, And smiles at him.
"Hey, it's fine I barely feel it," Ashley started, and moved his hand to Andy's face, "besides I had to save you. Didn't care if I got hurt as long as I could get you out be fore you..." Ashley was stopped by Andy's lips on his. They pulled away and looked at each other before they heard 'Aw' , and looked over at they guys, who were smiling. Andy looked down at his hands before he spoke.
"I love you too, Ash. I was so upset when you told me that you hate me and everything, that I came up here to stop the pain." he cased a glance down to his arms, "And then when you told me that you didn't mean it and that you loved me, I was so happy. But I couldn't say anything.. Cause I was scared. I didn't want to get hurt again, but when I saw you crying I knew you meant it. So when you left I ran after you, hoping to catch up with you before it was to late. But instead of finding you, I found those guys, and they..." Andy broke off into silent sobs. Everyone in the room looked down, just imaging what that poor boy when through. Ashley pulled him close to his chest, rubbing soft circles on his back.
"Shhh. Hey, it's okay, you're safe now. I got you. I got you." Ashley whispered that over and over again into Andy's ear, until the young boy fell asleep.
