Only a Memory

After dropping Annabel off at home, I head over to The Viper Room where everyone else is. As soon as I walk into the bar I see Ashley and Carrie talking to Matt Sanders from Avenged Sevenfold. I smile a bit, thinking it’s amazing that we’re talking to our idols. I walk over to them and sigh, catching Ashley’s attention. “You ok man?”

“I’m fine, your cousin isn’t.” I reply before ordering my drink.

“What’s wrong with her?” Ashley asks, naturally concerned for his cousin.

“I had to drag her to the ER today,” I begin to explain. “She has vocal nodules.”

“What are those?” Carrie asks.

“Growths on the vocal chords.” Matt replies with me. “It’s mainly caused by misuse of the vocal chords. Most singers get them; it’s more commonly known with chicks. It’s nothing to be too worried about. Surgery and Vocal therapy can take care of it.”

“What is she going to do about the band?” Ashley wonders.

“I had to get a couple surgeries on my vocal chords, her band is fine.” Matt laughs before downing his beer. “She’s just got to take care of her chords. And try not to scream or continue to misuse them. She can go mute from it.”

“Don’t tell her that.” I sigh. “She’s terrified and from what the doctor said, surgery can cause her the inability to sustain notes.”

“She’ll be fine.” Matt assures me. “Just got to keep her silent.”

“That’ll be easier said than done.” I chuckle as the bartender sets my drink in front of me.

“Yea, Anna doesn’t know exactly how to shut up.” Ashley laughs before taking a swig of his beer. “But that’s one thing you gotta love about her.”

“Well I hope your cousin gets better, I’ve got to go.” Matt says before paying his tab. “I’ll talk to you guys later.”

After saying goodbye to Matt, Ashley turns to me and looks at me. “Why aren’t you with Anna?”

“She kicked me out of her apartment after she found out about me hanging out with you.” I chuckle. “Trust me, I rather be with her than with you.”

“Then go with her.” He chuckles. “Finish your beer and leave.”

“You won’t be mad?” I question.

“Dude, I rather you be with my cousin than sitting here worried about her.” He replies. “So go get your skinny ass over there!” I just chuckle before downing the rest of my beer and paid my table before heading out.

I walk into her apartment again and it’s completely darkened. I kick my boots off before heading into her bedroom where’s she’s curled up in bed with Sixx watching some kind of movie. She looks up at me with a glare. “You’re cousin kicked me out because I’m worried about you.” I laugh before curling up in bed with her. She rolls over, earning a meow from Sixx, and curls up with me. I wrap my arms completely around her as she nuzzles her head into my chest. “You’ll be fine baby girl, don’t worry.” I say before kissing the top of her head. “But you’ve got to remain silent.”

She pushes away from me and looks up at me with tears in her eyes. I smile before leaning down and gently kissing her lips. “I didn’t talk.” She whispers.

“I know, I just wanted to kiss you.” I smile, causing her to blush. “I love you.”

“I love you too.” She whispers before kissing me back…
